When the time came for me to decide what my dog would eat for the rest of her life, I wanted to make sure it was something that would nourish, heal, and fuel her. I know that I feel my best when I am eating a clean, whole food diet, so I researched what the equivalent would be for her species, consulted with vets, and became certified as a Canine Nutrition Expert. The answer was clear: the best food to feed my furbaby, was the food she was evolutionarily designed to eat, with at least 50% of her diet coming from high quality, raw, animal protein. Because there was nothing out there that met the nutritional needs of my dog, I started making it myself. To say Laika enjoyed the food is an understatement - and I immediately noticed a difference in her energy levels, stools, teeth, and coat condition. Whenever I told friends that the reason her coat was so shiny, soft and healthy was because of her raw food diet, they immediately felt intimidated: they don’t have time to cook for themselves, let alone put together a fresh, raw, balanced meal for their dog. And how would they even know what nutrients their dog needs? And where would they get the high quality ingredients?
